Armoniosoincanto
“Armoniosoincanto” vocal group of Perugia, is made up of eight girls; it was founded in 1997 with the aim of carrying out a careful research work about the executive praxis of ancient music, mostly sacred, recoverd in codes of the middle age.
The study of the pure “vocalità” is tied to the performing of repertoires belonging to a large period, from the eighth century to the first Renaissance. The colour of the searched sound is intimately connected to the word, by means of the accents and the rhythmical inflessions of the spoken and declaimed language, covered by the fascinating “modali” melodies.
The path that the Group is following starts with the Gregorian Chants from “Fondo Autentico”, before 750 d.C. and continues in the study of the sacred repertorio of “Ars Antiqua” and towards the new polyphonic shapes that carry to the Renaissance. The purpose these songs are studied with is marked by the vocal refinement that reflects the philosophy and the rhetorical of the roman Christian music.
Therefore, even though executing programs influenced also from “stilemi” of profane character, the group tries to bring back themselves nearer to the didactical aims that characterize the pure and archaic Christianity.
The Group has been inserted in the program of the “Sagra Musicale Umbra” with which it has produced the Compact Disk “L'Ufficio Ritmico di S. Francesco”; in few years of activity it has already executed many concerts in Italy participating to the “Festival delle Rocche” of Rome and singing in Foggia and in Camaldoli.
The vocal group has obtained the second prize at the International Competition “Seghizzi” of Gorizia in July 2000; from 16 to 23 March 2001 it has held some concerts in Stockholm and Uppsala on proposal of the Institute of Italian Culture in Sweden and of Gary Graden, Cantor of the S. Jacobs Kyrka.
In June 2002 the group has participated to “UMBRIABUDAPEST” carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Italian culture in Budapest. In August 2002 it has participated to 50° International Polyphonic Competition “Guido d'Arezzo” obtaining the prize “D. Cleri” in the Review for the Category “Canto monodico cristiano”.
The vocal group has recorded the soundtrack of an italian tv film “Renzo and Lucia” composed by Battista Lena.
The group has also recorded, together with the Ensemble of ancient music “Orientis Partibus”, a Compact Disk called “O Roma Nobilis - Musics, voices and words of a medieval pilgrimage”.
The research work involves also the study of M.S. 695 “Cantorino di Reims” found in the Library of the Convent of S.Francis, in Assisi. In the next few months the repertoire of the Group will become rich of “Tropi”, “Prose” and “polifonie” from this precious code written in 1262.
