Massimo Delle Cese
Born in Rome, Massimo Delle Cese is still very young when he gets his classic guitar Diploma with full marks, at Rome Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music. Nevertheless he ascribes an essential significance when he met Manuel Barrueco and previously studied with Mario Gangi, whose innovative and original musical vitality he was already admiring. Prizewinner in several competitions, Massimo was just 15 when ranked first at the 4th Ancona National Guitar Contest. In 1982 he won the second prize at "Mauro Giuliani" International Competition and one year later he won the Rome International Young Performers' Competition. Since then, he has been in concert career in Italy and abroad (UK, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Greece, Turkey, USA, Middle and Far East...), regularly appearing in International Guitar Festivals, as well as solo player and St.Cecilia Guitar Trio member, whose two CDs (Mutations and Rhapsody) have been particularly appreciated by John Duarte, always winning success with public and critics of leading international guitar magazines.
His solo recordings, (including his last CD, a World Premiere Recording of the Italian guitarist/composer Mario Gangi's 22 Studies), has been receiving great reviews and estimations to their high quality by international guitar magazines, performers and composers. His next solo recordings CDs include the Italian "Stile Galante", with Cimarosa's and Galuppi's harpsichord and fortepiano transcriptios and "...Something new for guitar..." wherein contemporary works written for him will be recorded. In 2003 he has been awarded in Rome with the Gold Pegasus Prize for Classical Music and in 2004 with the City of Rome Prize as a tribute to his own concert carrier activity. Currently he is active as teacher too, being chair professor at L'Aquila Conservatory of Music and giving permanent master-class courses (Accademia Romana di Musica, Santo Tirso Festival-Portugal, Arts Academy, Accademia Musicale Pescarese, Istanbul Guitar Festival, Valencia Torrent Guitar Festival, Cyprus EMU Guitar Festival, Perugia Classico, Giuliani Guitar Festival...).
Massimo Delle Cese is playing a Mikhail Robert guitar with Dogal Venetian Strings.
