Susanna Kwon
Susanna Kwon took her degree at the Music University of Seoul and, since 1995 lives in Italy where has improved herself with Carla Castellani, Rita Orlandi Malaspina, Norma Palacios, Raina Kabaivanska and Gianni Bergamo. Winner of international competitions, in 2001 made her debut as protagonist in Rossini opera L'occasione fa il ladro at Modena Theatre of Genoa. During September of the same year gave two concerts of Verdi’s music during the festival Les ports du monde au pays de Saint Malo.
In 2002 spring she took part as a guest in the gala opera performance Una rosa per Genova getting a scholarship as emergent talented singer with the compliments of Franco Corelli. Always in 2002 she made her debut in Madama Butterfly (Cio-Cio San) and was the soloist in Schubert’s Messa in fa maggiore with the Symphonic Orchestra of Sanremo.
In 2003 was Fanny in Rossini’s La cambiale di Matrimonio at the “Mancinelli” Theatre in Orvieto. Afterwards she worked with Dan Ettinger (Le nozze di Figaro) and Julian Kovatchev (La Traviata, Opera Giocosa, Savona). Susanna gave some recitals in France (two concerts concerti at the Italian Cultural Centre of Paris). Singing also in scared music field she sang as a soloist in Poulenc’s Gloria and in the first performance of Mariani’s Messa dell'Incoronazione (recorded by Dynamic).
Among the next engagements of sacred repertory there are the Christmas Concerts in Genoa and in Alessandria supported by the Orchestra Classica.
She often sings in “Carlo Felice” Theatre, directed by Maurizio Salvi (Lloyd-Webber’s Requiem) Karl Martin (Grieg’s Peer Gynt), Julia Jones (Le nozze di Figaro), Michail Jurowski (Parsifal).
Recently she has been Papagena beside Markus Werba in Die Zauberflöte production which has inaugurated the 2006 – 2007 opera season of Carlo Felice theatre, directed by Daniele Abbado, set designer Emanuele Luzzati, conducted by Riccardo Frizza.
Active in concert sphere, she has also deepened the liederistic repertory. Recently she has performed as a singer in mozartian monographic programs ( Casinò of Sanremo Theatre, Cristallo Theatre of Bozen, Sorrento’s Concert Society).
