Kansax Saxophone Quartet established in 1996. Musicians that founded it, all of them students in S. Pietro a Majella Conservatory of Music in Naples at that time, where they studied with Francesco Salime, were driven by the will to let the audience know all expressive possibilities of the saxophone, an instrument appreciated enough, but yet to discover in several aspects.

This kind of group is characterized by a unique versatility: in fact, Kansax Quartet vast repertory goes from 17th Century music to contemporary music, placing side by side transcription from classical authors, such as Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, Debussy, etc. (many of these transcription are realized by quartet members) and original works written for this kind of group. The desire of experimentation lead Kansax Quartet to cooperate with contemporary composers that have written work dedicated to this group, such as the Spanish composer Davis Salleras Quintana. The quartet, moreover, has followed many Masterclasses with Jean Yves Fourmeau.

Winner of several national and international musical contests, Kansax Quartet carries on an intense concert activity in Italy and abroad, it has taken part in a lot of musical Festivals and Reviews such as “Maggio dei Monumenti” in Naples, Ravello Festival, “Citta di Ronciglione” Chamber Music Review, “I Venerdì Musicali” in Naples, etc. The Quartet played in a live show called “Radiotre Suite” on RadioRai Tre, and in August 2005 performed under the conduction of Jo Conijerts “Saxtory” for saxophone quartet and orchestra in Pordenone and Spilimbergo. Already present in previous editions (Valencia in 1997 and Montreal in 2000), in July 2006 Kansax Quartet represented Italy in 14th World Saxophone Congress in Ljubljana (Slovenia).

Kansax Quartet cooperate with Yamaha Music Italia since 2004 and with Vandoren Paris since 2006.

In December 2006 Kansax Quartet presented his first record work called “Rodenado” with works by G. Pierné, A. Piazzolla, T. Escaich, P. Iturralde and David Salleras Quintana (the title of the CD is taken from a piece dedicated to the Quartet). Members of Quartet have worked with several national and international orchestras: Opera Theatre of Rome Orchestra, Orchestra Filarmonica Romana, Orchestra Filarmonica della Moldavia, Accademia di Santa Cecilia In Rome, Young Orchestra of Berliner Philarmoniker, recording with the last two ones for Sony Classical and Musicom.
