Luca Flores was born in Palermo in 1956 and started playing the piano at the age of 5 in Mozambique, where he lived for 8 years. He moved to Florence in 1970 and studied at the Luigi Cherubini conservatory where he obtained his diploma in piano and five years of organ studies.
His career as a jazz musician began in 1974 when he formed first a quintet and later a trio. His performance on a national level started with Tiziana Ghiglioni’s group "Streams" and then with his group "Matt Jazz Quintet", together with Gianni Cazzola. It was with these two groups that he took part in the most important italian festivals.
He has also collaborated with the groups of Chet Baker, Massimo Urbani, Fulvio Sisti and Bruno Marini and has performed with several musicians who were passing through Tuscany, such as: Bruno Tommaso, Paolo Damiani, Lee Konitz, Sal Nistico, Gianni Basso, Claudio Fasoli, Furio Di Castri, Al Cohn, Steve Grossman, Al Grey, Bobby Watson, Bob Mover, Kenny Wheeler, Dave Holland, David Murray, Nicola Stilo, Riccardo del Fra, Enrico Rava, Muhal Richard Abrams, Tullio de Piscopo, Paolo Fresu, Tony Scott.
He has taught at the Andrea del Sarto in Florence from 1979 to 1987 and from 1993 onwards and participated in the summer seminars at Siena as piano teacher from 1985 to 1987.
He has performed in Switzerland, France, Germany, Holland and Russia. His teachers have been Roberto Pichini, Marco Vavolo, Enrico Pieranunzi and Franco D’Andrea.

He died in Montevarchi on 29th March 1995.
