Piero Gallo
Born in Palermo, he took diplomas in piano, composition, and orchestra conducting with Maestro C. A. Antonelli, Maestro F. Telli and Maestro F. M. Caramazza.
He attended specialization courses in Italy (Assisi, Terminillo) and abroad (Russia, Hungary, Switzerland) concerning composition and orchestra conducting.
He was invited by Hofstra University (NY, U.S.A.) to hold a course on Italian opera traditions and on the teaching methodology of orchestra conducting.
Professor at the Conservatories of Cagliari, Turin, Trapani and Cuneo for the subjects "Orchestral Practice" and "Theory, Solfeggio and Musical Dictation".
He was awarded the first prize in the National Competition for the chairs of Theory and Solfeggio in Italian Conservatories.

Composer of the one-act opera “La prima Alba” [“The first Dawn”], which won the competition announced by the “Teatro Regio” of Turin for works composed for the Junior High School. The opera was then performed at the Piccolo Regio of Turin during the 1995-96 season and in various Italian theatres and Conservatoires.
He conducted film music for Italian TV channels such as “RAI”, “Canale5”, and for the Swiss and German television.
He took part in the commemoration of F. Fellini, in Veneto Street, conducting music by Nino Rota.

As conductor of many formations he holds concerts of symphonic and operatic music in numerous Italian cities (Rome, Bari, Genoa, Cagliari, Savona, Grosseto, Imperia) and abroad (Russia, France, Hungary, Romania, Switzerland, USA, Austria).
He performs many Italian 18th-century works, as well as the wide repertoire of operas by Mozart, Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, Puccini, Mascagni, and Leoncavallo.
He founded and conducted the MAVRA Orchestra of Genoa, with which he won 1st Absolute Prize in the International Competition of Stresa.
He performed with the “MAVRA” Roman Choir at the “Teatro Olimpico” in Rome, during the cultural events of the World Soccer Championships ,the "Carmina Burana" by C. Orff, achieving public and critical success.
He was guest at the “Festival dei due Mondi” (“Festival of the Two Worlds”) in Spoleto, he conducted the world premiere performance of the opera "Green Planet" by F. Amendola, also recorded on a CD published by Bongiovanni.
The long-term collaboration with important symphony orchestras of Eastern Europe lead him to the conduction of the Orchestras of Oradea, Satu-Mare, Bacau, Craiova, Cluj-Napoca (Romania), the Moldavian Radio-Television, and the Philharmonic of Izhevsk (Russia), both during their tours in Italy and in their homelands, always receiving a great success anywhere.
He was on a theatre tour conducting "L'Histoire du soldat" by I. Stravinsky and "Façade” by W. Walton, with the soloists of the “Teatro Carlo Felice” of Genoa.
He conducted the world premiere of the opera "Il Miracolo del Corporale" (“The corporal’s miracle”) by A. Vitalini, performed in its complete version, in Savona. Then it was revived in the Abbay of Casamari (Frosinone) and in the Sinopoli Hall of the Auditorium of Rome, with the Regional Orchestra of Lazio, broadcasted by the Italian radios: RADIO3 and Vatican Radio.
