Traigo de Todo is the result of an intimate relationship with song and the music I’ve lived over the course of many years; a summary of the passions that have been kept deep inside and seduce me: from the works of Monteverdi to the Bolero, including everything from the Guaguancó to the Joropo; my senses pay homage to Mozart, Beethoven, Changó and Saint Benedict.

This first record aims to be a synthesis of a world of experiences and images that blend across frontiers and wind up constructing a space of fusion across a timeless transit through cultures; yet where I identify myself with the Latin-American essence, a universe I belong to as a native of Venezuela.

The contemporary popular Venezuelan music composers that have joined me on this recording, have recreated a wide variety of styles and come up with extraordinary pieces that range from a Joropo-Flamenco to a Mozart aria presented as an African rhythm. Without these creators, and Lorenzo Barriendos’ tutorage, I never would have been able to successfully realize this daring adventure of mine.

I am aware that on this record I wasn’t able to include many composer friends of mine – and many others who aren’t – that command my respect and admiration. I hope I can sing them in the future.

Ah! I almost forgot, Traigo de Todo is also a homage – secret and shared- to Ismael… – I already told you –, to Erasmo and Manuel!

Traigo de Todo es el resultado de una relación íntima con el canto y la música que he vivido durante muchos años, una sumatoria de pasiones bien guardadas que me seducen: desde la obra de Monteverdi hasta el Bolero, pasando por el guaguancó y el Joropo; mi sentido homenaje a Mozart, Beethoven, Changó y San Benito.

Este primer disco pretende ser la síntesis de un mundo de vivencias e imágenes que se mezclan sin fronteras y acaban por construir un espacio de fusión y de tránsito intemporal de culturas, donde me encuentro identificado con la esencia latinoamericana, universo al cual pertenezco como venezolano.

Los actuales compositores de música popular venezolana, que me acompañan en esta edición, han recreado una gran variedad de estilos e ideado piezas extraordinarias que van desde un Joropo-bulería hasta un aria de Mozart presentada a ritmo de percusión negra. Sin estos creadores, y la figura tutelar de Lorenzo Barriendos, nunca hubiera podido llevar adelante con éxito mi osada aventura.

Soy consciente de que no he podido incluir en este trabajo a muchos compositores amigos – y muchos otros que no lo son – que gozan también de mi admiración y respeto. Espero que para las próximas ediciones pueda cantarles.

Ah!, y se me olvidaba, Traigo de Todo es también un homenaje -secreto y compartido- a Ismael… – ya te lo dije –, a Erasmo y a Manuel!
