The structure of the instrument
The organ is subdivided in five separated bodies answering to each single stop and the pedal and they are placed inside the wooden case according to a well definite order dependent on the sound characteristics of each element. The main body is that occupied by the first stop (“Grand’organo”) whose pipes of the Principal 16’ (90% of tin) occupy the whole width of the prospect; the main pipes create two side towers behind which there are the pedal pipes. Just above the main part of the “Grand’organo” front there is the body of the second stop (“Organo Positivo”) whose front is made up of the pipes of the Principal 8’ (90% of tin). Behind these two bodies there are two expressive cases of the third stop (“Organo Espressivo”), the first one carries pipes of a maximum height of 8 feet whereas the second one carries all the stops from 4 feet downwards. This bodies’ division gives an optimal sound distribution in the hall and gives a good amalgamation of each stop. The metal pipes are made up of slab tin-lead plate depending on different percentages fixed according to the sound result expected by designers whereas as for the wooden pipes only top-quality pinewood has been used.
